We are located just outside the city centre of Bruges. It's only 4 km to the Market Square in the city centre from our house and only 1.5 km to the canals around the city.
Our guesthouse is close to the Damse Vaart, a bike ride or drive by scooter along this canal is a real treat. You can cycle or drive to Bruges. The busstop is only a few metres away from our driveway. Catch bus 4 and it takes you to the city and the sation.

‘t Fort van Beieren
When you leave the apartment and walk a few 100m to the left, you can explore the forest and ‘t Fort van Beieren. It’s ideal for a walk or run.

Here you will find the remains of an earthen fortress from the early 18th century and the site of a castle demolished in 1956. Its name refers to the Austrian governor Maximilian of Bavaria. A network of paths will introduce you to a varied landscape with mainly forests, meadows, earthen walls, partially overgrown canals, the remains of a walled vegetable garden, a farm complex and Marilandica poplar trees.
You can walk all the way up to Damme from there.
Damme
Damme is very beautiful, picturesque village near our place. You can get there easily by bike or on foot (4 km). The city the smallest candy shop in the world (so they say 😉) and a lot of restaurants and coffee places. There are some lovely terraces.
Another way, it to take the Lamme Goedzak, a touristic boat (nr 11 on the map). You can walk to the from our place ( ) and take to boat to Damme (April – Sept).
Oostkerke is also a lovely small place to visit when you’re cycling and discovering the area.
the Damse Vaart (the Canal Bruges – Damme)
You can walk or cycle along the Damse Vaart all the way to Bruges or all the way to the Netherlands.
Just across the street you find the estate 'Fort van Beieren': ideal for a relaxing walk or morning run.
Visit Damme, by bike, on foot or even by boat! Enjoy a fine meal or cup of coffee.
In Damme you can do a few nature walks (info in our appartment). A lot of cycling trails pass by Damme.
The seaside is closer than you think. De Haan, Blankenberge, Zeebrugge, Knokke are seaside towns closeby. De Haan is one our favourites, Zeebrugge is actually part of Brugge.
Cycle to Sluis in the Netherlands. In summer, there are often evening markets.
The Dutch seaside is also nearby: Cadzand is a very peaceful place to go to and you don't have those appartment buildings our Flemish seaside has.
You can easily visit Damme (4 km), the small picturesque Oostkerke and even Sluis, just across the border in the Netherlands. You can visit the seaside or other beautiful cities!
Why not take the electric scooter and drive to the seaside? Depending on the seaside town of your choice, you can visit the lovely and charming city of Lissewege while driving or cycling through the polders.
Belgium is a small country.
So, other beautiful cities are nearby! Take the car or catch a train to visit Antwerp, Ghent, Brussels, Ypres, Ostend, Liège, Namur ...
Ghent (56 km), Brussels (105 km), Ypres (73 km), Antwerp (98 km), the seaside (15 km), ... all these places are within reach for a daytrip.
